LOS ANGELES — A veteran Los Angeles police officer and his son have pleaded not guilty to possessing and receiving child pornography.

A U.S. District Court judge on Tuesday set a trial date of Dec. 1 for 54-year-old John Deegan and his 25-year-old son Jonathon Deegan. John Deegan has been on paid leave from his job as a patrol officer since March when the FBI notified the Police Department that he was under investigation.

FBI agents allegedly found illicit photos and video on both the father’s and the son’s computers when they served a search warrant at the Deegans’ Long Beach house.
