Portland, Oregon- A Clark County man is suing a Portland strip club for getting him drunk, throwing him out and employing a bouncer with a criminal record.
In a lawsuit filed Feb. 22 in Multnomah County Circuit Court, Eric Olsen claims he suffered a fractured skull, a broken eye socket, a right shoulder fracture and facial lacerations when he was thrown out of Club 205 on Feb. 24, 2006.
According to the lawsuit, Olsen “was served numerous drinks containing various types of alcohol” in the strip club at 9939 SE Stark St., near I-205. But Olsen was sipping a water, the lawsuit says, when he was “negligently ejected from the club” by bouncer Rory Woodworth.
The lawsuit says Woodworth, 29, is believed to be a resident of Clark County and has a prior criminal record. A WWire search of Washington state court records turned up convictions for fourth-degree assault, third-degree theft, manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, permitting a minor to consume alcohol and obstructing a law-enforcement officer.
Olsen is suing Woodworth and the owners of Club 205 for alleged negligence on a number of counts, including:
• Serving Olsen excessive amounts of alcohol.
• Employing a person who did not have reasonable judgment.
• Failing to properly train and supervise employees.
• Failing to follow appropriate procedures in removing a customer.
The lawsuit, filed by Vancouver attorney Derek Vanderwood, claims Olsen continues to suffer from bladder incontinence, migraine headaches, and hearing and vision loss as a result of being thrown out of the bar. The suit seeks $1.67 million for Olsen’s lost wages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering.
Club 205 general manager Dale Lewis has not yet returned a phone call seeking comment, and Woodworth could not be reached for comment.
