from www.int.iol.co.za – Pietermaritzburg detectives seized at least 1 300 pirated DVDs and 200 “hardcore” pornography disks, the Witness newspaper reported on Thursday.

Captain Jageesh Singh said police also seized blank DVDs, DVD writers and computer equipment in Northdale, Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man was arrested during the raid and was expected to appear in court soon.

Singh said it was illegal to copy films, and the sale of pornography was regulated.

“But it’s also being sold to anyone who wants to buy it, including under-age kids,” he said.

He said pornography should be sold only at “adults only” registered outlets.
