Pittsburgh – www.reuters.com – A man was arrested on Tuesday for secretly making nude videos of female customers, some underage, at a Pennsylvania tanning salon and posting them online, state police said.

Crawling into a hiding spot in the ceiling of Sun Kissed tanning parlor, Jesse Macklin allegedly videotaped 73 women and girls, state police said in a statement.

An investigation began in October 2007 when a 17-year-old Mount Pleasant High School student reported that video images of her had been downloaded and distributed to other students through their cell phones. Police were unable to find the source of the video and the case became inactive.

In early 2010, another customer told police she had been alerted to an online video of her at the East Huntington salon in 2006 or 2007. Numerous other victims subsequently came forward, state police said.

Investigators found water bottles bearing Macklin’s fingerprints in the ceiling above the salon’s tanning rooms and determined he had videotaped patrons from there for several hours on six occasions. He allegedly entered the ceiling through a vacant store nearby. No one at the salon has been linked to Macklin, state police said.

Forty of the 73 videotaped women have been identified, including 20 who were minors at the time, state police said.

Macklin, 28, of Jeannette, was charged with burglary, sexual abuse of children and other offenses.
