Van Nuys, CA — Pushing the edge…..that’s what Matt Zane, director of Tattooed & Tight and Radium, is all about. Always looking to break through barriers and create art never before experienced, Zane once again defied disbelievers and conducted a live suspension performance on rocker Dave Navarro’s Spread Entertainment web TV show last night.
“The show was great,” said Zane, at home recovering the day after his ground-breaking performance. “Now it’s just the heal time. It takes a while for everything to heal.”
Zane appeared on Navarro’s show (www.maniatv.com/tv/spreadentertainment) along with Pleasure Production’s contract star, Tera Wray, to promote Zane’s wildly successful summer release, Tattooed & Tight. Wray starred in Tattooed & Tight, becoming the first adult film star ever to engage in a hardcore sex act while their partner was receiving a real tattoo, and took part in the suspension which was recorded in front of a live audience at The Dragonfly in Hollywood.
“I picked her up twice, and spun around,” said Zane, who also took the opportunity to promote his upcoming release, Radium. A combination of heavy metal music, live band interviews and performances, and MTV-style sex videos, Radium contains a portion of Zane’s live suspension performance with his band, Society 1, before 40,000 people at the 2005 Download Festival in Donington, England. That performance was nominated for best live performance of the year, an award eventually won by the band, U2.
And of course, Zane seized the opportunity of a live appearance with a high-profile celebrity to add something special to his next production, Punk Ass. Zane shot footage of Wray in the morning before the suspension, and afterwards a complete hardcore scene with her that he will incorporate into this upcoming movie.
“By the end of the day, I was lightheaded and confused,” said Zane, explaining that he was still bleeding from the 4” steel shark hooks used for the suspension when he shot the evening scenes. “When we were done it looked like someone had been murdered.”
