ABC 6 NEWS- from www.kaaltv.com - - A senior at Tartan High School asked a porn performer to go to prom with him. She said yes, the school said no.
Mike Stone, 18, asked more than two dozen local girls to go with him to the prom. They all turned him down.
Mike turned to Twitter and started asking celebrities and other sort-of famous people for a date, including Kim Kardashian and Snooki from "Jersey Shore." He sent more than 600 tweets.
Finally he got a 'yes' from an adult film "star." She is named Megan Piper (at least that's her stage name) -- she said she'd love to accompany him, as long as he paid her way from Los Angeles.
Tartan High school administrators, however, essentially told Stone that she is not allowed to the dance.
Wednesday evening, Stone and 19-year-old Piper spoke for the first time on the phone. "Thanks for accepting my invite," he said.
"I have dinner planned out and I'll have, like a limo," Stone continued.
"That sounds really nice. I really can't wait," Piper responded.
Mike says he can't take any more rejection from the girls at Tartan High. "It made me a little mad, and a little sad, that they didn't want to go," he said.
As for Piper, "I really wish I had gone to my prom," she said. Her family moved to a new state her senior year of high school, so she missed out.
Stone's invite, she says, she just couldn't turn down. "It was a sweet gesture. It was so cute. I couldn't say no," she said. "I don't plan to show up butt naked or anything. I'm going to wear a pretty prom dress!"
Stone says he's a fan of Megan's "work" but claims he's never actually watched one of her performances.
Upon learning about her son's planned date, Stone's mother Diven said, "I was a little upset at first but now I support him." She was quick to add, though, "He'll be coming home alone, though, when it's over."
She says the rejection her son received from the girls at his school was painful for her to see. "But that's the culture we live in," she sighed. "Kids can be mean. So why shouldn't he be allowed to take someone else?"
Diven Stone met with Tartan High School officials on Wednesday who told her that her son's prom plans were not approved.
Tartan High officials wouldn't speak on camera, but said in a statement that Megan Piper's "attendance would be prohibited under Tartan's standard prom procedures and would be inconsistent with two school district policies." Those policies, among other things, refer to keeping the school safe from "activity that may be disruptive."
Mike Stone says he is undeterred. "If they don't let us in I'm just going to throw my own party."
Megan Piper added, "I don't think a person's job has anything to do with that person's character, like what makes them a good person or a bad person. I don't think I'm a bad person just because I do porn. I think I'm pretty sweet actually."
Parents picking up their kids outside Tartan High Wednesday said there was no way they would let their children "be exposed" to Megan Piper. Said one father, "I think it's ridiculous. I think it's inappropriate. I think it's something that should be banned. In fact, I think the student should be banned from going to prom now with or without her."
The prom will be held, with or without Stone and Piper, on May 12th.
