The film was shot over two days with a cameraman and co-producer. A virtual spaceship environment was created in Unreal Engine against a green screen. The script was developed around camera movements designed to capture a strange alien creature, with the action focusing on the Hankey’s Toys alien replica dildo. Hankey's Toys sent Masque the dildo after she promoted it at the AltPorn Awards.
Masque described "Michalien" as a DIY project for fans of video games, sci-fi, and horror. She expressed a desire to create content for "cinematic fanatics" and "horror movie freaks" who seek alternatives to typical B/G, toy play, or cosplay content. Masque is currently finalizing the film's edit for submission to film festivals in 2027.
