TAMPA – from www.myfoxtampabay.com – The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office has decided not to file child abuse charges against former commissioner Brian Blair.
Blair, 52, was arrested and taken to jail on Father’s Day. According to an arrest report, Blair choked and beat his 17 and 13-year-old sons.
Today the state attorney’s office said it concluded the kids were defiant, and the 4 a.m. confrontation was reasonable corporal punishment.
Investigators also said it appears Blair, once a professional wrestler, sustained serious wounds, while his children were essentially unharmed.
The 911 calls in the case were already released in which one of the boys is heard telling a dispatcher to send law enforcement because his “brother’s gone crazy and stuff.”
Blair had faced two felony counts of child abuse.
