Porn Valley - I had a quick chat today with Kevin K, the former general manager of Extreme Associates, then Evolution Erotica. Kevin K. is now with Warner Brothers meaning that he got out of the porn industry alive and all in one piece. Kevin K. acknowledges that he left quietly but on good terms. "A lot of people weren't aware until I was already kind of gone," he says. "I was there in the first place for the wrestling [XPW]; then I stuck around for another year then decided I wanted to do something different with my life."
Kevin K's now working for a division of Warners, an independent label which does production and distribution for special interests that include poker videos. "We're working on this poker television show," he tells me. I tell him that it'll be very exciting tuning in, especially to 24 hours of Minnesota Joe drawing to an inside straight.
"Poker is hot nowadays," responds Kevin K. "It's totally hot."
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Guy Capo and Nicki Hunter host Kick Ass Pictures, www.kickasspictures.com owner Mark Kulkis on the KSEX, www.ksexradio.com, couch to discuss his controversial "Bullets - Not Boobs" campaign against the US armed forces, as well as his latest, and equally provocative, release titled "Inseminated By 2 Black Men".
So I'm talking to Kulkis, since it will be his first time on the KSEX couch, and I manage to bring up the Cal/OSHA angle. The gist of "Inseminated" is its internal pop shots. But Kulkis was rather quiet on the whole issue. "I imagine you're saving all your soundbites for Capo," I tell him. "I'm not going to comment on Cal/OSHA," responded Kulkis who's already received calls from the L.A. Times and Reuters. "This is a no win thing," he says. "If you go around saying I'm going to do what I want, you're asking them to come after you. If you do the opposite you're looking like a pussy. So I'm taking a no comment position."
