A murder case tied into the Palomino strip club in Las vegas www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=16816 isn’t the first time the grim spectre of death has hovered over the club.
Las Vegas- From the files, March 18, 2002: After more than 14 months in delays, the criminal case stemming from a slaying at the Palomino strip club has made its way to District Court.
In 2000, Jack Perry, 54, was arrested by North Las Vegas police on a murder charge in the death of Palomino general manager Kenneth Rowan [pictured]. Authorities contend that Perry, whose family once owned the business, shot Rowan as he worked in his office.
A motive in the killing has not been identified by police or prosecutors.
Within months after Perry’s arrest, the case against him encountered lengthy delays in North Las Vegas Justice Court.
On Feb. 25, the Review-Journal reported that a preliminary hearing in the matter had been delayed at least 10 times, frustrating Rowan’s daughter.
“I don’t see justice in anything anymore,” said Kristine Anderson, who expressed concerns that the case against Perry might never be resolved.
Less than a week after Anderson voiced her frustrations, Perry was bound over to District Court on an open murder count by North Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Stephen Dahl.
Perry is expected to be arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Joseph Bonaventure.
Last week, Anderson expressed optimism that the man authorities allege is responsible for the killing will be held accountable.
“I am very happy it’s finally out of North Las Vegas and downtown, where it will be taken care of,” Anderson said.
The lengthy delays in the case previously were attributed to scheduling problems of Perry’s defense attorney.
