Australia- THE adult movie industry is pursuing porn pirates.
The industry has won an injunction to stop an alleged pirater selling X-rated films - starring one of the world's most famous porn stars, Jenna Jameson.
The Adult Industry Copyright Organisation (AICO) said today adult film company Wicked Pictures, and its distributors Calvista Australia and adultshop.com, had obtained the interim injunction in the Federal Magistrates' Court.
It blocks retail, online and mail-order businesses Kaosshop and Platinum Interactive, and their director Theo Armenis, from selling all Wicked Pictures films until the matter is resolved in court.
AICO executive officer Graeme Dunne said most of the films starred Jenna Jameson, "the world's number one ranked porn star".
"Obviously Jenna is hugely popular and people will try to capitalise on that and make money from it," Mr Dunne said.
He said 80 per cent of adult videos and DVDs sold in Australia were pirated.
"Piracy is a major problem in the Australian adult film industry and we are being flooded with pirated DVDs and videos," Mr Dunne said.
"Legitimate film production and distribution companies that employ thousands of people are being seriously undermined by illegal pirate operators."
Copyright infringements can lead to criminal prosecutions, fines or imprisonment.
The matter will go before the Federal Magistrates' Court again on October 6.
