SWEET HOME, Ore. - from www.kval.com -- The name on the list of substitute teachers looked familiar to Jody Garber, a mother of six.

Five years ago, she did a little cyber sleuthing about a new neighbor.

"I had Google'd his name on the computer because I like to know who my neighbors are," she said.

What came up in the search results for Angelo Mercure [pictured] shocked her.

"His name came up on two different sites," she said.

"One site is a typical photography site," Garber said, "and the other one is a 21-plus site with adult, southeast Asian photography that's extremely bizarre."

The website is filled with pornographic images depicting bondage and fetishes with categories like "Boys and Girls" and "Living Dolls."

After a few months, he moved away.

Last week, Garber found out her former neighbor was on the substitute teacher list for Sweet Home schools.

"He's into strange, bizarre pornography," she said, "and I wouldn't want him to be fantasizing him doing that to one of my kids at school."

She went straight to the superintendent of schools.

"If we feel like it's going to be awkward or weird around our kids, we choose other people," said Superintendet Don Schrader.

Schrader took Mercure off the list of substitute teachers.

"I think we'll be more aware," Schrader said. "Google is a tool to use, and if we have any questions, we'll look into it."

KVAL News tried to contact Mercure to get his side of the story. He has not responded to requests for an interview. Mercure is not accused of any wrongdoing.

Schrader said Mercure never substitute taught in the district, and that all substitute teaching candidates must pass a background check.
