Prosecutors Want a Felony Conviction in Charlie Sheen Case

from www.radaronline.com – The Colorado prosecutor heading Charlie Sheen’s domestic violence case won’t accept a plea deal from the Two and a Half Men star, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin will turn down any deal that does not involve a felony, a source says. Sheen is facing one felony and two misdemeanor charges regarding the Christmas incident when he allegedly held a knife to wife Brooke Mueller’s throat and threatened to kill her.

Previously, Sheen’s attorney Richard Cummins told a RadarOnline.com source that he would not accept any felony charge. “We have not entered a plea yet but we would be entering a plea of not guilty and certainly would not enter into any disposition that contemplated a felony because no felony occurred,” he said.

“Plea negotiations are in no way imminent,” the source added, emphasizing that Mordkin and Cummins are “far apart” in terms of reaching a compromise over what crimes the actor committed.

Sources tell RadarOnline.com that Mordkin is following the lead of Judicial District Attorney Martin Beeson who has “declared war on sexual crimes in his three-county district” in Colorado. The source said Mordkin “noted that there have been a multitude of serious domestic violence episodes in Aspen recently” and that given these episodes “have been fueled by alcohol and drugs, it is easy for an out-of-control situation to go from bad to worse”.

Even though Sheen is one of Hollywood’s biggest names, the source said Mordkin is concerned that “one of these days someone’s going to get killed” and he’s determined to “send a message that we as a community do not tolerate this type of behavior”.

Sheen is next set to appear in the Pitkin County Courthouse in Aspen on March 15.
