from www.dailyrecord.co.uk – A porn star has warned fans to be on their guard after an internet scam gang used her picture to dupe a Scot out of his life savings.

The West African fraudsters have been using pictures and video footage of American Raven Riley to con men out of thousands.

Last week, we told how a 36-year-old West Lothian man with special needs sent £26,000 believing the money was to help Vivian Boakye from Ghana, who he believed was his fiancée.

But the pictures he was sent are actually actress Raven, 26 – and her face has been used to fleece men all over the world.

In a message on her own website, the angry star said: “It has come to my attention that my photos have been used to scam people out of thousands.

“First and foremost, I am not from Ghana and I do not chat with people on email, Yahoo, MSN or any other messenger.

“I do not need you to send me money because my webcam is broken or any other reason. The girl you think you’re talking to is not me. I am posting this page in the hope it may help anyone that has been corresponding with these a******s using my photos.”

The Scots victim was contacted by the gang using Raven’s picture via Facebook in 2010.

Within weeks, they had already convinced him to wire cash to bank accounts in Ghana and Malaysia. He even transferred £3840 to pay for their wedding.

Then they turned on him saying they would call in the police because it was illegal to buy a woman over the internet.

West Africa has become well-known for fraud due to the large number of email scams which originate there.

These include false promises of lottery winnings, rewards for helping the scammer release money and even emails claiming to have been sent by a bank.

It is estimated that in 2010, more than 2.4million people in the UK fell victim to a scam – with one in three being an online con.

The most vulnerable age groups were teenagers and over 80s.
