REXBURG, Idaho — The mayor of Rexburg is making the month of May the time to rally against pornography.
Mayor Shawn Larsen signed an anti-pornography proclamation this week in advance of a conference Saturday focused on the dangers and problems caused by pornography and addiction to it.
The proclamation declared May 2009 as “White Wristband Against Pornography Month.” Larsen says the fight against porn and the porn industry is an important issue for the community.
Saturday’s conference, organized by Citizens for Decency, will feature a variety of speakers, including a state lawmaker, U.S. Attorney Tom Moss and authors and other experts on the subject.
At local high schools this week, students teamed up to hand out more than 900 white wrist bands to remind about the dangers of pornography and growing addiction problems.
