Porn Valley- With no one even remotely capable of challenging him, Mike Barbella has to be the most traveled guy in the porn industry. Barbella, an industry salesman of many years, is now with Robert Hill Releasing, www.roberthillreleasing.com.
Just recently, Barbella was showing me some footage from Hills' The Negro in Mrs. Jones 7. The fact that the series made it at all to a Volume 2 is a testament to the fact that the porn public can still appreciate a good gross out when it gets it. "Nobody has seen this- you're the first," Barbella clues me. I feel honored
What Barbella's referring to is a scene of a black Jesus carrying a cross; and, with it, also answers the question as to what happened to porn journalist Wally Wharton. Performing in porn movies is the answer. "I believe I hear an errant NE-gro trying to upstage me," Wharton sing songs into the camera. The whole scene of Wharton sucking off Jesus, which will obviously capture the theological imagination of many a lapsed Catholic, is just so wrong. "This is Robert Hill," Barbella states profoundly as though he's introducing Siegfried and Roy.
But Barbella didn't make the connection as to who Wharton was. And you really wouldn't expect him to. Without benefit of knowledge of the adult industry's trivialities, he was venturing to call Wharton "one of the most hideous crack whores I've ever seen- but she's hilarious- in the first scene she's fucking Jesus, a big black Mogambian Jesus." I clued Barbella into Wharton's resume such as it is, devoid of letters of Jesus recommendation.
Wharton might be one issue, but more and more people are beginning to recognize the name of Robert Hill. Some know him as the guy who makes the funny rubber face in the ads with his quirky "I don't like AIDS" campaign. Others see him as another Rob Black or Greg Dark.
"He's the up and comer of the business," says Barbella. "He has the qualities of a Greg Dark. He has the wackiness of a Jim Powers and is just a very artistic guy. I think he's one of the most underrated directors in the business. People don't really know who he is; and, I think, once they do see, they're really going to be amazed at how entertaining and how great this stuff is. The stuff is really a cut above the rest." Barbella thinks Hill is particularly amazing with the way he sets up a scene.
Hill specializes in a lot of tranny material, but, even with that, Barbella thinks that customers who buy the straight stuff will enjoy what Hill has to offer.

Another big selling Hill title, devoid of shootouts, is Transsexual Penentrator. Barbella explains one of the concepts. "There's two guys raping transseuxals all over Sao Paolo- or wherever," he laughs. "There's one big monkey guy. Very scary. Very intimidating guy. I guess you got to have that when you're raping transsexuals. And then there's, who I call, little Tim running behind him with a mattress. So you have these girls in the park, on the beach, and these guys come running up behind them. One guy throws the mattress down and the girl gets thrown on the mattress and raped. It's really good stuff. This guy has an incredible mind and the stuff needs to be watched and appreciated."
Rim of the World- another Hill series- is also less inclined towards the squeamish.
"It's something I suggest you watch as long as you haven't just eaten- rim being the key word," Barbella winks. "Normally the prep for an anal scene would generally not be put in a movie," says Barbella. "But, in this case, we've filmed all that. Do we squirt it out their asses? Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It's just a big anal squirt party."
