Nashville- Country singer Mindy McCready was in stable condition at Centennial Medical Center Thursday, according to a Centennial spokeswoman, a day after paramedics rushed her to the Nashville hospital following an alleged suicide attempt.

McCready, whose long-term affair with former Yankee Roger Clemens was revealed by the Daily News in April, cut her wrists early Wednesday morning at the Nashville home of her younger brother Timothy, according to a Nashville Police incident report.

Timothy McCready opened the front door at 3:30 a.m. to discover a “very intoxicated” McCready. Later that morning, he went to check on his sister and found that “her bed had blood on it.”

The 33-year-old McCready had surgery to her left arm to repair a severed tendon, according to a source. In addition to her treatment, McCready was to receive a psychological evaluation.

“She came through her surgery last night just fine. She is recovering nicely,” a source told the News.

The suicide attempt comes near the end of tumultuous 2008 for McCready. After her affair with Clemens was exposed – Clemens met the aspiring singer in a Fort Myers, Fla., bar when she was 15 and he was a married father of two – McCready was dragged into Clemens’ legal matters, including the federal perjury investigation of the seven-time Cy Young winner and Clemens’ defamation suit against former trainer Brian McNamee that was filed in January.

The FBI interviewed McCready in May and more recently, sources told the News that McCready believes she is being followed by investigators. McCready suffered a nervous breakdown in July and was admitted to a Hunt, Tex., rehab center. She served half of a 60-day jail sentence and was released in October, her final obligation for a probation violation that stems from a 2004 guilty plea for prescription drug fraud.

Her 2-year-old son Zander lives with McCready’s mother Gayle Inge in North Fort Myers.

Clemens, 46, denied the relationship with McCready was sexual and apologized in May for “mistakes” in his personal life, though he did not specify what the mistakes were. The Rocket even referred to McCready as a “family friend” and that the singer knew Clemens’ wife Debbie.

McCready, who told the News that she has never met Debbie Clemens, apologized to Clemens’ wife last month in an interview with Inside Edition. She told the News at that time that she never wanted to marry Roger Clemens and did not end the relationship with him because he couldn’t commit to her.
