NY- Tanned, toned and costumed only in a towel, '90s porn legend Ryan Idol will strut his stuff in the revival of Terrence McNally's "The Ritz," opening Thursday.

"My role is very limited," Idol admits, "but it's a piece of glue in the show. And it's Broadway!"

Even if his primary job is to sex up the stage, Idol's Broadway debut makes him the latest in a generation of XXX-rated entertainers seeking mainstream employment. Here are four "born-again" porn stars:

RYAN IDOL (aka Marc Anthony Donais, his real name)

AGE: 41

DEBUTED: 1990

RETIRED: 1996

MAINSTREAM ENDEAVORS: After "The Ritz," Idol says, he'll return to work on his autobiographical one-man show, "My Messy Bedroom: Anatomy of an Idol." From here on in, it's an actor's life for Idol. "I'm going to start focusing on finding a manager and agents, and we'll see what happens," he says. "I finally have gotten to a place where I feel like I have a tight-knit family."

JENNA JAMESON (aka "The Queen of Porn")

AGE: 33

DEBUTED: 1994

RETIRED: August 2007, when she had her breast implants removed and announced that her XXX career was over.

MAINSTREAM ENDEAVORS: Her 2004 autobiography, "How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale," spent six weeks on the New York Times best-seller list - with buzz about a film version building ever since. She's also working on a clothing line.

RON JEREMY (aka "The Hedgehog")

AGE: 54

DEBUTED: 1981

RETIRED: Nope, still going.

MAINSTREAM ENDEAVORS: Jeremy consulted on Hollywood films about the adult-entertainment business, such as "Boogie Nights," and was the subject of a well-reviewed 2001 documentary, "Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy." PG-rated fans know him from his spots on VH1's "The Surreal Life." Oh, and he launched his own hot sauce.

TRACI LORDS

AGE: 39

DEBUTED: 1984 (at age 15)

RETIRED: 1986, when she and the film crews working with her were arrested. Only one of her films was shot after she reached legal age.

MAINSTREAM ENDEAVORS: Lords made a surprisingly professional transition to TV with spots on "MacGyver" and "Married ... With Children" and went on to play recurring roles on "Roseanne" and "Melrose Place."
