from www.mediabistro.com – Scott Smith is out at Playboy.com following a seven-month stint due to “creative differences,” according to a Playboy spokesperson. Smith describes himself as “the recently-laid-off former Editor of Playboy.com; A gentleman of the lowest order” on his Twitter page, pointing to an involuntary split.

Smith joined Playboy following a stint at Time Out Chicago and as co-editor of Chicagoist and leaves the magazine’s website in the midst of the company’s ongoing attempts to establish a profitable and relevant online presence.

Smith’s role will now be split by Playboy.com executive editor Sam Jemielity and managing editor Sarah Preston Gorenstein.

Another, unrelated Playboy casualty is Scott Alexander, the print magazine’s “modern living” senior editor, whose position will not be based out of the company’s Chicago office.
