If you say Lars von Trier’s Melancholia you know he’s capable of some pretentious crap.
from www.celebritydirtylaundry.com – What do you call someone who has sex on screen for money? A porn star? Shia LaBeouf calls it acting and he plans to go all the way for his director Lars von Trier’s new erotic drama The Nymphomaniac.
The film, which also stars Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgård and Charlotte Gainsbourg, is set to begin filming this spring and Shia has said everyone’s on board with Lars’ risky vision.
“There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we’re doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening,” he said, via The Sun.
“He’s [Lars’] very dangerous. He’s the most dangerous dude I’ve ever showed up for. I’m terrified.”
I don’t know why Shia’s so scared. This isn’t the first time he’s flashed his junk all over the place. Did you catch him going full frontal in Sigur Ros’ video? It’s bizarre as all hell and meant to be esoteric and artistic which is precisely why I didn’t get it. But Shia’s nothing if not a slave for his craft. If he wants to flash his peen and do the dirty in front of the world in the sake of art, then by all means.
Personally, I don’t understand it. The movie is supposed to be about a woman’s sexual awakening. Fair enough. I’m no prude but I don’t see how something like this is necessary. How is it considered acting when you’re actually having sex? When you are in that intimate of an act, how can you play a character? I would imagine separating yourself from the experience would be difficult. Perhaps Lars doesn’t want Shia to separate himself? Maybe having sex is a way to get a realer performance? But, again, how is that acting then? I’m confused. Someone help me out.
Do you think Shia having sex on screen is going too far or is there merit in pushing the envelope? And how is this not considered porn? I’m sure many porn stars feel what they do is just as valid. Do you think Shia will have his very own fluffer?
