Showtime is developing a reality TV series about hookers with onetime Fox big deal Stephen Chao at the helm. Alas, Chao – the man behind Cops and America’s Most Wanted – is having a hard time casting the show, which plans to rent a Hollywood Hills mansion for the cast to ply their trade.

“The show won’t be demeaning or exploitative because, as the director explained it, they’re looking to cast working girls without implants,” according to the web site. Well, that changes everything, doesn’t it?

There is, of course, the little matter of legality, not to mention the effect celebrity – even the clammy, blush-inducing type that a Showcase adult series might bestow – would have in a profession that usually values anonymity. It’s like searching the ranks of Washington lobbyists for the stars of a show provisionally titled The Big Nasty Graft And Earmarks Spectacle Of Democracy Gone Rancid.
