Sliquid, a lubricant brand, has introduced newly redesigned 5ml sample packets, transitioning from traditional foil "pillow-style" packets to an eco-friendlier design. This change aims to improve the dispensing experience and enhance the brand's retail presence.

New Sample Packet Design and Features

The new 5ml sample packets from Sliquid feature a rigid construction, designed to hold and distribute liquid contents more smoothly and precisely. This new design aims to mitigate the messy dispensing often associated with traditional foil packets. A company representative explained that the new design is eco-friendlier.

The updated sample packets will include Sliquid’s popular formulas: H2O, Sassy, Silk, Silver, Satin, Sea, Tsunami, Organics Natural, Organics Natural Gel, Organics O Gel, Ride Lube Silicone, and Ride Lube Hybrid. According to a company representative, this lineup ensures that retailers can offer a tailored sample for various customer preferences and product pairings.

Michelle Marcus, VP of sales at Sliquid, stated that traditional foil packets have not adequately represented the product inside and often result in mess. Marcus indicated that the company sought to provide retail and distribution partners globally with a sampling experience that reflects the premium nature of the Sliquid brand. She described the new design as sophisticated and eco-conscious, noting its easy-open format which considers individuals with accessibility restrictions. Marcus also characterized the new design as a "game-changer" at the counter and an effective way for retail partners to introduce new customers to the Sliquid brand. She added that the packets serve as a cross-promotional upsell alongside novelty toys or devices and are suitable for gift-with-purchase promotions throughout the year. Marcus concluded that the new sample design offers an effortless introduction to Sliquid's flagship formulas, aiming to convert first-time users into repeat customers.

The packets are engineered to enhance the point-of-sale retail experience and are described as an "upselling tool." A company representative stated that the new sample packets provide brick-and-mortar stores with a method to encourage customers to pair and experience Sliquid with new toy or intimate wellness purchases, transforming transactions into a tool for driving repeat traffic and long-term customer loyalty. Retail buyers can contact their Sliquid distributor representative or email [email protected] to place orders.

Previous Product and Packaging Updates

Sliquid has previously updated its product formulations and packaging. In August 2010, Sliquid unveiled redesigned packaging and a new formula for its lube line, featuring simplified versions of its existing all-natural ingredients. These ingredient upgrades involved replacing a nontoxic hypoallergenic additive and a broad-spectrum preservative with natural alternatives. The company stated that these changes offered better results and were naturally derived, contributing to a more eco-friendly, organic product.

Dean Elliott, Sliquid CEO, mentioned that Sliquid is associated with women’s health and safety, and that the company's chemist regularly identifies and tests safer ingredient versions necessary for product shelf life and functionality. Elliott stated that the new formula became safer for the body, and that the formulation change was made immediately after positive testing feedback. Specifically, Cyamopsis, a conditioner derived from guar gum, replaced a synthetic additive (polyquantonym 007). Potassium sorbate replaced DMDM hydantoin, which was used as a broad-spectrum preservative. Elliott noted that the company generally uses one half of one percent of preservative in all products, sufficient to prevent mold spores during bottling.

To align with Sliquid’s new formulation, the 4.2-ounce and 8.5-ounce containers were made from the same recyclable material used for the Sliquid Organics line. The company also introduced a new gender-neutral label, intended to appeal to a broader customer demographic. While Sliquid aims to cater to women’s safety, the company also sought to ensure its male consumers were considered.
