New Bern, North Carolina- The Greg Sakas trial might as well be the Scopes trial. Because there seems to be a lot of monkey business going on.
Last week Pure Bliss owner Sakas was told that no local judge wanted to hear his case. Sakas, whose store was raided this past January and September, suspects it’s due to the political fallout created by the Christian Coalition backing police action against him.
Sakas has long suspected that the local police chief, Frank Palombo’s in the hip pocket of the Coalition which is apparently backing him for public office.
This week Sakas, who’s facing third degree misdemeanor charges, learned indirectly that the state’s attorney general was going to appoint a judge.
His trial’s now scheduled to proceed November 28th.
And this Wednesday Sakas learned that a female judge from Raleigh, North Carolina was going to preside over the case.
“But some of the witnesses we want have conflicts in their schedules,” states Sakas. “We’re not moving on this without being able to get everyone we wanted to get in there.”
Sakas suspects all of this amounts to a “fast one” being pulled.
