posted on www.vegasblog.latimes.com: As the rest of the country was transfixed by Tom DeLay, it was the local corruption trial of two county commissioners that has Las Vegas abuzz.

The number one question: How does Emily Herrera manage to stand by her man? Each day she sits alone in court directly behind her husband, former commissioner and current defendant Dario Herrera (the day I was there last week he turned to address her curtly only a couple of times) as he defends himself from accepting bribes from a strip club owner in the form of cash and other perks.

In fact, for the past two days, the testimony focused on the many, many sexual favors that Dario allegedly received from strippers and even a bartender at Cheetah's in exchange for betraying the public trust. Even Dario Herrera's co-defendant, former commissioner Mary Kincaid-Chauncey seemed overwhelmed by the extent of Herrera's alleged behavior.

According to the "Review-Journal" Kincaid-Chauncey "spent most of the day with her head in her hand as she listened to detailed accounts of Herrera's sexual exploits." But not Emily Herreara; each day Emily Herrera proves the ultimate politician wife arriving stoically in court holding Dario's hand for the press cameras. In fact, today's Review-Journal puts that very picture of the two of them holding hands on the front page in the story detailing Dario's alleged infidelities to his spouse and to his constituents.
