The ordinance mandating adult video stars to wear condoms on shoots in the city of Los Angeles goes into effect Monday.
Meantime, the AHF, the supporters of a similar measure for Los Angeles County continue to collect signatures in order to get the initiative on the November 2012 ballot. And that’s the big difference.
I spoke to Ged Kinslea, a spokesman for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation which has been behind the initiative.
Kinslea tells me for now the ruling applies to movies shot strictly in the city of Los Angeles and that the November ballot covers 85 of the 88 cities in Los Angeles County [cities like Pasadena, Vernon and Long Beach are covered by different health ordinances.]
Kinslea also tells me that while porn studios are already covered for shooting permits, assuming the November ballot passes, they’d have to apply for an additional health-related permit and adult film producers would have to pay a permit fee that would cover the cost of enforcement.
