Here is the Forbes article that did it: www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=45175
from www.gearlog.com - Have you ever heard the names David Pitner or Jared Reagan? Probably not. However, these two California men are just about the bravest men in the history of the internet. These modern-day American heroes have valiantly cast away any remaining shreds of shame and embarrassment by proudly attaching their names to a class-action lawsuit against the world's most popular pornographic website, YouPorn.com for accessing the web history of visitors.
Somebody had to do it.
The suit follows on the heels of an expose on Forbes.com explaining how YouPorn exploited a Javascript security flaw to see what other pornographic sites one-handed web surfers had visited. The trick works by checking to see if your browser registers various links in purple (the usual default color assigned to visited links). A practice known as "history sniffing."
After the Forbes.com article appeared on November 30th, YouPorn quickly removed the snooping code without comment. However, by the end of the week, Pitner and Reagan filed their lawsuit against Netherlands-based Midstream Media, the parent company of YouPorn and associated sites.
YouPorn.com, which you certainly have never heard of before, is an ad-supported site that offers free short pornographic clips. It is the most popular pornographic site on the web and is currently the 61st most popular website in the world. According to a 2007 profile of the company, the site (at least at one point) was raking in $120,000 a month.
So, if you have ever visited YouPorn before November 30th (by accident, of course, when looking for YouTube or Lolcats) you might have some money coming your way--just as long as your willing to have your name on the public record as having been wronged by these dastardly proprietors of free amateur and semi-professional porno clips.
