Florida- Sunny Isles Beach commissioners have finalized a plan to create an adult-entertainment zone on Collins Avenue — meaning the city’s lone adult establishment, Thee Dollhouse strip club, will have to move within five years.

For more than two decades, the club has enjoyed a high-profile spot at the city’s gateway, along the 163rd Street Causeway. But it will now have five years to relocate to one of two strip malls on the west side of Collins Avenue — now the city’s official adult playground.

Lawyers for Thee Dollhouse said they would consider challenging the city’s action in court.

”If I could decide this personally, I would ban adult entertainment in the city,” said Mayor Norman Edelcup. “Unfortunately, federal law doesn’t permit me to have that luxury.”

The commission’s vote was 4-0, with Commissioner Roslyn Brezin absent.
