Hollywood- A judge today will determine whether the party’s on for Saturday night or not. www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=25422.
Regarding Thursday’s decision that will affect the venue of the premiere party featuring “Not the Bradys XXX” and “Spunkd: The Movie,” party promoter Jeff Mullen commented on the pending court decision that could alter plans for this weekend.
Mullen, who in the past has had parties at The Knitting Factory with no pevious problems, said the issue first came to his attention Wednesday afternoon.
“This is a classic example of a mainstream section of the community once again discriminating against the adult industry,” says Mullen. “They [the landlords of the Knitting Factory] are only projecting what’s going to be taking place inside that club and not doing so on any facts or any history looking back at what’s happened in their club.”
“They’re suggesting that what we do as people is disgusting and not fit for a public venue. That’s a major discrimination case that I smell coming. We’ll see how the battle goes.”
For the time being, there’s no alternate venue should the judge issue a temporary restraining order, states Mullen.
“We don’t have a Plan B,” he concedes.
“I think this is part of a bigger picture,” Mullen continues. “Although this is discrimination at its greatest, the landlord of that building is trying to leverage The Knitting Factory out of there which they’ve been trying to do for the last six months.”
Mullen suspects the party is being used as a means to do so.
“They’re using our party and our right to assemble in private as we can do as people- as any group can. We’re not hurting anybody. We’re having a good time. I’ve never had a problem at any of my parties. If they want to bring attention to how sick this industry is or how perverted we are, let them bring it. Because we aren’t.”
“But I will say this much- this will be the greatest party we ever threw.”
