I was chatting online with my good friend Wankus today. Wankus is the programming director of www.ksexradio.com, an internet radio station that offers a very specialized form of programming -- 24 hours of porn talk, all shows hosted by porn personalities and adult film stars, and featuring other adult film stars and related personalities as guests. The station has been broadcasting for several years now, and it really can be alot of fun to listen to.

The broadcasts are free to listen to (although if you want to take advantage of the webcams so you can actually SEE what's going on there's a fee, of course). Felicia and I hosted our own show on KSEX from June 2003 until April of 2004, and we had a great time doing it.

Wankus has come under fire from a certain vocal minority portion of the porn community, because he was selected to be the host of the annual XRCO Awards show. XRCO stands for X-Rated Critics Organization. One of the organizers of the show asked me for my opinion on the matter of who to select as host, and I gave Wankus my wholehearted endorsement...the next day he was asked, and he accepted. I'm not saying I had a say in the matter or anything, because I didn't -- I'm nobody and my opinion counts for squat -- but I was asked, and I did recommend him.

Now we have, on the AVN blog (http://www.avn.com/blog/) a thread that deals with XRCO, and which - in the comments section -- has turned into a rousing condemnation of my buddy Wankus, and of the XRCO show as a whole.

Rumor has it that some people are pressuring other people to have Wankus dropped as a host. Kinda reminds me of the whole Chris Rock deal at the Video Music Awards a few years ago. Chris Rock hosted, and mercilessly cracked on everyone from Puff Daddy to Jennifer Lopez to Britney Spears...he was a riot, and the show was a rousing success. The following year, a group of stars let MTV know, in no uncertain terms, that if Chris Rock was hired to host the show again, they would not be in attendance. Their massive egos, I assume, would be boycotting the show as well.

MTV capitulated, and hired a couple of guys who weren't funny, and the show sucked big time. I mean, it really stunk.

Now we have a group of adult film stars and company owners who are ticked off that Wankus goes out of his way to deflate their massive egos occasionally on KSEX Radio, so they don't want him to host the XRCO show and they refuse to come if he does.

When, exactly, did porn start taking itself so seriously?
