Porn Valley- In going over my notebooks and tapes for a book I'm writing about the adult business, I come across a conversation I had with Tracey Adams back in October, 2001. Now retired, Adams, in recent weeks, got a breast reduction. I know. Tragedy.
At the time we had this chat, we got on the subject of Bud Lee who had directed for Vivid at one time.
"I don't know how many years ago it was the last time I saw Bud Lee," states Adams. "I had bad interactions with Bud Lee. I don't know what happened, but Marc Wallice and I had to go back and re-shoot something. Bud wanted us to do it for free. I said absolutely no way that I'm going to drive back to the Valley and shoot something you fucked up and do it for free.
"He makes a shitty deal but I thought, whatever. I'll do it," Adams continues. "We spend a whole day. I should have been in and out of there, and it wound up being a long day. At the end of the day, he's I can't pay you right now. But I'll be able to pay you...it's the same song and dance. If there's any porn stars at all out there who've never heard this, then their career is just beginning.
"The problem was I wasn't paid for the original work, either," Adams recalls. "So I had to go to Vivid. I remember standing in front of Steve Hirsch's desk. He was on the phone. I came in unannounced, and someone escorted me into his office. It was just all so Mafioso. I really thought I was going to have problems, but he looks up at me and goes what can I do for you? I told him the whole story. This isn't right. We put our lives on the line doing this shit and in good faith because there's nothing signed ahead of time. He was furious. He had some intercom button and had Bud Lee come in there.
"And Bud came in there like a dog with his tail between his legs," continues Adams.
"Steve Hirsch told Bud Lee just give her the money right now. Memory doesn't exactly serve me on who pulled out the check book, but one of them did and I was paid. And it didn't bounce."
