I thought the stress building up to putting on a show was going to be kind of heavy, but I had no idea that dealing with issues before the show on the night of would come into play.

I mean, let’s face it. When you put on any kind of event, there are always going to be people upset about something. Some justified and some just high maintenance…but that’s pretty much the way it is for any ‘customer service’ situation.

Even with that said, I know now for next time, someone else is handling RSVPs and door control. I’ll go back to doing what I do best, preparing the “creative” side of things.

Don’t get me wrong, overall the 2nd Annual KSEXradio.com Listeners’ Choice Awards went really well, but there’s no wonder I’ve got a sore throat, bad cough and a dizzy head.

I made it as clear as possible in the press, as well as in e-mails, but for some reason a few folks still didn’t get it. These shows cost money. Actually, even a small show like the one we did, costs a lot of money. The great folks at WantedList.com chipped in and certainly helped tremendously, but at the same time, there are a lot of costs involved in putting on a show, especially one that included dinner, dessert, drinks and a really fun show.

Keeping that in mind, was a $20.00 door fee too much to ask? For most who attended the sold-out show, no, it wasn’t. But do you believe a few people actually left to avoid the fee? I mean, it was good for those who weren’t on the RSVP list because it freed up a slot and gave them an opportunity to come in and enjoy all the fun. But c’mon…twenty bucks? A person spends that money within ten minutes at any bar in America. It just baffles me.

Then there’s the “I confirmed and I’m not on the list” crowd. The only problem with that is, I was anal about the list and don’t have you listed. So what to do? Did I fuck up? Did you? I can’t even take your word for it because there’s no legal room inside without the fire marshal coming and shutting the show down. The good news is, anyone who was stuck waiting, eventually got inside. The bad news is, some people didn’t wait and left mad.

You can’t save the world, but with such a positive show, it bothers me that I couldn’t please everybody.
