From www.sltrib.com- The Utah Transit Authority has recently adopted an ordinance that will fine passengers using its free wireless Internet service who visit pornography, gambling and gaming sites.
The ordinance was approved in late May. The fine for the first violation will be $300 and subsequent fines can be up to $500.
Passengers on FrontRunner commuter trains and express buses must be 18 to use UTA's free Internet service. Those who use it agree to term and conditions, including accepting UTA's content filter to restrict access to sites deemed offensive. But no filter is perfect.
UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter says enforcement would be done by a transit police officer, who would issue a citation. Passengers could appeal.
