Numb nuts that I am, I'm rooting the Tennessee Titans on to victory Monday Night, then realizing I've picked the Saints in the Adultfyi pool. That's how this season's been going.
It's also been brought to my attention- and after referee deliberation- that a tie exists between Sean from www.pornlegends.com and Karl the Birdman. Though I posted "Atlanta" under his picks, Sean had taken Carolina.
Here's how the standings look after Week 3:
Karl the Birdman, Sean, www.pornvalleyvixens.com: 34-14
Steve Seidman, John Gray, Indiana Adam: 31-17
Billy the Crystal, Dan Davis, Tony Batman: 30-18
Gene Ross, Jack Spade, Willie D.: 29-19
Tim Case, Ryan from Jerry's Deli, Sandy Bunz, www.sandybunz.com: 28-20
Mike Fattorosi, www.adultbizlaw.com, Mastrick, Mike Dickinson, Serenity, www.serenity.net: 27-21
Wankus, Brian Wallace: 26-22
Steve Volponi: 25-23
Steve Lane, www.serenity.net: 23-25
New Orleans [Houston Post]- Vince Young's rematch with Reggie Bush went much like their last meeting, with the former Texas Longhorn using his legs and his arms to lead his team to a 31-14 win.
Two years ago Young quarterbacked Texas to a national championship when they beat the USC 41-38, avenging his loss to Trojan Bush in the Heisman Trophy race. Monday, Young threw for a pair of touchdowns to help drop the New Orleans Saints to 0-3, a team that was just one game away from a Super Bowl visit last season.
Young's first score was a 35-yard pass to Brandon Jones, giving the Titans a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Saints responded with two 62-yard drives that both ended in Bush one-yard touchdown runs, one on the second, the other in the third, but before the period was out Young had Tennessee on the march again and LenDale White put the Titans back on top with a one-yard scoring run of his own.
Tight end Bo Scaife then put the game away when he reeled in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Young midway through the fourth quarter. Young finished the game 14 of 22 with 164 yards and an interception. Jones was the leading receiver, catching 4 for 73 yards, while White rushed 17 times for 50.
Drew Brees, the quarterback who help ressurrect the Saints and the city of New Orleans from the wreckage Hurricane Katrina last year by leading them to a 10-6 record, and NFC South title and an appearance in the Conference title game, threw four interceptions in the game, the third of which was returned 61-yards for the games final touchdown. Brees was under pressure most of the night and did complete 29 of 45 for 225 yards but he got no help from his running game, especially with the loss of Deuce McAllister in the first half to a knee injury. Bush managed just 15 yards on 7 carries.
The Saints had already suffered two embarrassing losses on the road and were hoping that a return to the Superdome, the home of last year's emotional 2006 debut, would re-kindle an offense that has gone from the most productive last season, to downright dismal so far this year.
Instead, it was the Titans who rode the wave of momentum, built on last year's resurgence that had them turn an 0-5 start into an 8-8 finish that just missed qualifying for postseason play.
New Orleans will try and right their ship next week when they host division rival Carolina while Tennessee heads home for a game with Atlanta.
