New York- LINDSAY Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, seems to have gone off the deep end, acquaintances of the star say.
Last week, he admitted to taking too much “medication” after passing out at Scores. Now his estranged wife Dina, Lindsay’s mother, has taken out an order of protection against him, family friends said.
“Michael has been calling up friends and telling them that Dina tried to run him over,” said one family confidant. “He claims she missed him but hit a wall and that her younger children [Aliana, Michael and Dakota] were inside the car and that she was drinking. He says she is being investigated for child endangerment, DUI, whatever.”
Another family friend confirms that Michael “has been calling everyone. I have heard this story as well, it is bull[bleep].”
Michael Lohan’s story appears to bear no weight – Nassau County police have no record of any driving incident involving Dina, who lives in Merrick, or an arrest for DUI.
Lohan’s behavior has become increasingly odd in recent months. In May, he was arrested for assaulting his brother in-law, Matt Sullivan. Although his daughter’s security team tries to keep him away from the family, he allegedly tried to kick in Dina’s door in August.
“Dina is now pushing for a divorce,” a close acquaintance said. “She kept him around for so long because of the kids, but this is too much.”
Lindsay is not unaffected. The flame-haired star has kept her distance from her father and is trying to keep busy on the set of “Herbie the Love Bug,” but friends say she is well aware of what is going on.”
A pal says: “Lindsay is very upset. Michael has told her he will kill her mother and he has threatened her [Lindsay’s] assistant and friends. Other people are in the process of getting restraining orders against him, not just Dina.
The pal continued: “Lindsay lives in California full-time, so she doesn’t really have to deal with him face-to-face, but she has changed her phone number like 10 times to try to get away from him.”
A representative for Lohan said: “This is a family matter and we don’t wish to discuss it at this time.”
