Hush Hush Entertainment has struck gold with their launch of the Whitezilla brand. The first DVD, Sorry Daddy Whitezilla Broke My Little Pussy, has already sold out in less than two weeks, forcing the studio to scramble to get another run of DVDs replicated to meet the onslaught of reorders.
“We knew we had something big on our hands with Whitezilla, in more than one way, but we didn’t expect to sell out of the DVDs so quickly, not during the summer in a down economy” said Hush Hush VP of Operations Valerie See.
See credits the buzz from retailers and distributors which she says began months ago when rumors hit the internet that Hush Hush had signed a talent worthy of the Whitezilla moniker. Hush Hush then began teasing fans with preview pictures and trailers, while at the same time utilizing their on-the-road marketing program to give retailers a glimpse of what would become a top revenue generating series.
“Every retailer I showed the title to had one thing to say, ‘Hell yeah! When does it come out?’, so I thought we had a situation here where we have found something for retailers to get excited about, which is hard to do these days, especially in the gonzo genre” said Hush Hush Retail Marketing guy Nate Glass.
Hush Hush says that the pre-orders for the title were unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. “We had distributors calling for the title three months in advance, telling us that their customers were ready to place an order now” says See.
The first Whitezilla DVD has only been in stores for a short while, but retailers are already getting great results. “In less than two weeks the title has already become a powerful DVD that will warrant numerous reorders for quite some time,” said Nate Karli, buyer for the Dreamers chain of stores in Texas.
Hush Hush plans to release at least one Whitezilla title per month with the 2nd Whitezilla DVD, “Whitezilla Is Bigga Than A Nigga” streeting on July 21st.
