Says Sean: With football season being over for a few weeks now and with winter going into what seems like it’s fourteenth month, Saturday morning I had some time to sit down at the computer and read the latest news concerning the adult industry. I read an article titled “YouPorn Killing the DVD Market.” The article was very compelling [I only fell asleep twice reading it]. It was yet another story about how DVD sales were tanking and how Vivid and other companies were trying to stem this tide, without much success, it would appear.
The part of the article dealing with YouPorn.com intrigued me. I had heard of the site but never visited it. So, with a box of tissues in one hand and my mouse in the other, I clicked on to YouPorn to explore the latest “enemy” of the adult industry. Tag along as I give you my take on this website and its threat to all porn-kind.
As websites go, it’s nothing flashy. Thousands of dollars were not pissed away in the building of this site. As you enter, that day’s latest posted clips meet you immediately. It’s the standard fair of cum shots, boy/girl action, and a woman taking a baseball bat up her ass. Timeless stuff…classic.
With the use of the site’s search engine, I began my exploration of the site. I found just about everything Skeeter Kerkove could imagine. I never realized the vagina and anus could hold so many things: baseballs, baseball bats, mini footballs. One girl’s pussy looked like a Dick’s Sporting Goods store.
Most of clips on the site have a running time of about 4 minutes or less on average, with some going much longer. However, I didn’t see any running times over 45 minutes. The qualities of many of the clips are very poor. In some clips, I couldn’t tell if I was watching porn or the latest amateur film capturing a glimpse of Bigfoot. Because of this, I wouldn’t pay a dime if this site began to charge a fee to view it.
Piracy is now a huge concern in the industry and I admit I did find clips from several American companies on the site but not as many as I figured I would have. In total, a large majority of the site’s content is either amateur or professional grade porn shot in Asia, South America, or Europe.
In my view, Vivid made the correct call in not buying this site.
This site isn’t a threat to the American porn industry. The only real threat comes from within the industry. The absolute glut of porn product and adult web sites is what is killing this golden goose. Eight or ten thousand new releases a year along with a few million adult sites have finally taken its toll on the industry. Becoming mainstream has also taken the dark luster off porn. Porn is everywhere and has become commonplace. As in evolution, you adapt or die. Maybe instead of making train loads of cash, the industry should start settling for only car loads of cash.
