from www.nydailynews.com – The family of beloved TV pitchman Billy Mays is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of his sudden death.
Mays, 50, was found dead Sunday at his Tampa home. The brash but buoyant salesman became a pop culture icon for pushing household products like OxiClean and OrangeGlo.
His death came just hours after getting hit on the head during a rough landing on a US Airways flight from Philadelphia.
The coroner’s office in Tampa said it expected to have the autopsy done by Monday afternoon. Local authorities said it was too early to tell if the bumpy landing played a role in his death.
“There were no reported injuries at the time of the landing,” said Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy.
Mays posted a message on Twitter about the flight and gave an interview to a local TV station after landing at Tampa International Airport.
“All of a sudden as we hit, you know, it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping,” Mays said.
“It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head.”
