WWW- British scientists claim they've come up with a condom that can turn a flop into a stud. Instead of dulling the pleasure, which is a complaint that many condom users make, this latex sheath contains a chemical that helps men maintain an erection.
"Research has shown that at least 2% of condoms slip off during intercourse," said James Barder of Futura Medical, which is developing the condom for Durex condoms. "One of the major reasons for the problem is that at times men don't maintain a full erection during intercourse."
The result is a higher risk for unwanted pregnancies and exposure to sexually transmitted diseases.
"We hope it's going to promote safe sex," Barder told London's Daily Mail newspaper. "Clearly this is one of the rationales behind the product."
The scientists have injected a glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) into the tip of the latex sheath, which currently carries the not-sexy name CSD500.
GTN is absorbed into the skin and increases blood flow into the penis to keep it erect, Barder said. Unlike Viagra, which treats impotence, this supposedly revolutionary rubber is aimed at sexually healthy men who are turned off by condoms.
"It's marketing to make money," said Dr. Arnold Melman of Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
