Porn Valley- KSEX's newest co-ho, Nicki Hunter, was on the Sports Swami show Friday. Swami asked Hunter, who's with www.ladirectmodels.com , how she got the gig doing a show with Guy Capo. Hunter said it was from hanging out and networking at Porn Star Karaoke.
"It's hosted by KSEX radio, DVSX, Aria and a bunch of other people," Hunter pointed out. "I started to get all buddy-buddy with them. They invited me on the KSEX show- sure, I'd love to. I love talking to people and getting in front of that microphone. It makes me feel warm and tingly inside." And it was duly noted that with Teagan Presley moving on to Digital Playground and with Hunter having been on the Cap show several times, anyway, she seemed like a likely replacement candidate.
Hunter said she and Capo get along fabulously. "He just loves sparking controversy," she said. "He loves getting people up-in-arms and getting their hair raised. It's nice being a grounding wire to all of that," Hunter laughed. "I can bring him back to earth some times and offer a different view. He welcomes it. He loves it. Yes, yes bring it up! He wants me to peg him down sometimes. It's a love-hate relationship in the way of politics but we get together very well."
Hunter said she and Capo discuss what's be in the news and who they might want to bring on the show. "Just last week we had a game show I conjured up called Whatchamajizzit," said Hunter. "It was a fabulous hit and before that we had the couple that were police people- that got fired because they started doing porn. We'll just bounce ideas off of each other."
Swami complimented Hunter on her singing and Hunter noted that there are several guys who go to Karaoke who can do as well. "There are a couple of guys who can belt it out. It's amazing." For her part, Hunter said she's recorded but is of the opinion that singing tends to be more of a hobby unless you can write your own songs and know the right people. "It's a difficult life," she stresses. "I keep it more along the lines of this is what I love to do.
"I'll always sing," said Hunter. "I'll use my voice whenever I can. But it'll stay a hobby." Bringing up the concept of The American Idol, Swami thought Hunter had all the ingredients and asked why she didn't take a shot.
"I have a problem with American Idol," she said. "Just, specifically their competition. If you want to hear good singers and have a good contest, who's the best singer, then more power to you. American Idol in itself I have a little bit of a problem with because here they are taking these people and they're stuffing them into already pre-written songs.
"People already have an idea of how the song's supposed to go and then you're supposed to be original with it," Hunter continued. "It's kind of difficult because you know if you've heard a song over and over again. So it's kind of difficult for these people to get out there and to compete against what's already familiar. I Don't know if it's exactly a great testament to an actual voice. Plus if you hear them sing they don't give 'em any reverb. It's raw voice which is very difficult for anyone to do, to sound good- instead of a recording studio where you can have all the special effects that build up a voice."
Hunter says she and a couple of girls are authoring a couple of songs. "You never know what's going to happen," she says. "Maybe we'll be like the next big porn star stars. It's amazing all the things we're coming up with. It could work. I'm not going to say it's not going to happen."
Swami said he's talked to Vicki Vogue who's told him that she wants to become a country & music singer. Hunter was asked if she had given a thought to that genre. "Country singers or any type of singers usually take on a very conservative view," Hunter noted. "But sometimes you don't want to mix in with what the normal view is. Like Shania Twain- she went out there and put a pop/country/rock into it. Everybody started talking about her because she was different. You want to be different. She started showing midriff. She started showing cleavage. If you've got a dream, go up and do it. It might just take."
It was noted that Hunter began as a webcam girl, www.nickihunter.com. "Why get into the business when you're happily married and have a family?" Swami asked Hunter.
Before she got into porn Hunter said she had three years of college. "I was going for nursing- I was working in a hospital," she said. "I had a fabulous time." Hunter said she met a male nurse and because fabulous friends. "He's like, hey, me and a couple of other people are going to Mardi Gras." Hunter said she had never been there and decided to go. "This is where it all began," she laughs. "One night, happily drunk and flashing all night, I jumped on a bar. I started dancing and taking off my clothes. I got my first dollar bills, which I stuck in my underwear. I said, hey, this could work." Hunter said not only did it pay for her drinks that night but practically paid for her entire trip.
"I kid you not- it was so much fun." Hunter also had a girlfriend who worked in gentlemens' clubs. "I started dancing- enjoyed the money it brought in, enjoyed going out and being able to talk and have fun and make money while doing it," said Hunter. "I worked in a bar that had feature dancers- they were porn stars. I said I want to be a feature dancer. I can do porn." Hunter said she started making her own porn and sold it to the clients she danced for.
"Everyone asks you, when you dance, to go home with them," Hunter laughed. "Hey, I can't go home and fuck you but you can watch me be fucked in my very own movie. And people would actually buy my movies." Hunter said a magazine picked it up and said it was great. "I picked up an agent through that who sent me out here to L.A. Direct."
Swami asked Hunter what it was like being one of the older women [24] in that stable. "I feel so old," laughed Hunter. "This is the only industry where you can be 24, 25 and feel old. But it's okay. It's alright. You can make a very quick name for yourself." By being older, Hunter says it also gives you advantage of not being swept away like the younger girls. "They either get swept under the rug or abused or they bur out. This is not what they want to do. They'll do a couple of movies and drop out. Okay I made my money, I did it, I'm done." Hunter said she picked L.A. Direct because they were the first people that decided to take care of her. "My feature agent said I got some good friends in L.A. who'll get you some good work. That's how it all began."
Swami was looking for feuds but didn't get any of those indications from Hunter. "They're are all great people," she stated. "They've got great clientele, and they're very good at treating their people well. They make sure that we have all the information for our shoots, that we get there on time- very professional. With Derrick there's no slacking. Everything is a business and it's run like a business. Which is the way it should be." Swami brought up Kelly Kline's name and Hunter said she was doing a scene with Kline at the time of the interview.
Swami persisted in looking for feuds- at least as far as boxcover envy's concerned, and Hunter wasn't going for it. "I wouldn't say it was so much that it was a dog-eat-dog world," Hunter was inclined to say. "Most of the time when people have movies that are up and coming, they already know who they want and they know how to get a hold of us through Derrick. If they've got a look or an image or different personality that they want to come through on their movie- most of time they've already gotten an idea. And if they don't, they just call up Derrick and tell him this is what they want. I want a really vivacious girl who's going to talk dirty a lot and I need either a blond or a brunette and Derrick basically can come up with who the best options are and who's available for that day. It's not that hard. It's relatively easy, and it's nice because I stay pretty booked."
Answering one of Swami's longest winded questions to date about separating personal and porn life on screen, Hunter said it's so true about wearing two hats. "There's mommy at home- there's Nicole- I am a vixen in the bedroom," said Hunter. "But I am definitely mother bear and I will protect my young -uns. And I'm queen of my household. But I also have Nicki Hunter which is the wild, crazy party animal. It's not quite like having split personalities as much as it's making sure I change my hats at the right time," Hunter added.
Asked how her husband handles her career, Hunter said it's she, not her husband who's the jealous one. "He does scenes, too- his name is Jason Horn," says Hunter. "He does other women and I do other men and other women, too. I get more of an option. He does a lot of scenes, too. We're both working towards a goal. We both have a little bit of our free time and we can develop our sense of self so we're not lacking on anything. You know how a lot of married men go out and have affairs? Then they come home- but I love my wife- I just wanted to have that sex."
Hunter said you have to understand man's innate desire to have their egos fed. "To be macho and know that they can get another woman. Sometimes it's lacking but in our relationship we always know that we have each other. There's that commitment there. And he also gets to go out and be that macho-istic monster that every man has deep inside of him."
Asked the inevitable how do you explain your career to the kids question, Hunter feels her children need to know what she does. "I have two boys ages 3 and 5," continued Hunter. "And as much as they need to know, is, guys like looking at pictures of mommy, so mommy goes out and she takes pictures for money. And that's my job." Hunter said she keeps pictures in her house.
"They're beautiful pictures- they're softcore," she said. "It's not like hardcore spreads or anything like that. But some of them will show some breast." Hunter said her kids need to know that the pictures are perfectly natural. "It is a woman's body. It's not something to be lusted after as much as it's something beautiful to be appreciated. And they need to know how to respect a woman which is very, very important for me to teach them. They're not going to be watching my porn by any means!"
Hunter said it's not the age to talk to her sons about it. "You answer their questions honestly and gently but it's not something to be ashamed of or hidden, either." Hunter feels you have to play a very positive role with your children and mentioned that Guy Capo has a daughter that he talks to. "She's going to find out exactly what he does one day, too."
Hunter said, though her one son is three, she's got a feeling that when he's 18 he's going to be begging to do a porn scene. "I don't know how I know this- it's a mother knows her son," laughs Hunter. "As long as they understand that it's work, there is a difference."
Hunter said it's more than just going out and doing all kinds of girls. "There's a work element to it and there's professionalism that you have to bring across. I really don't have a problem with them taking a part in the industry as long as they have a general knowledge. But it will one day come back and affect them because it has long term effects. If you ever want to run for president, and you've done porn at 18 years old [or any age for that matter], it will come back."
Swami noted that Bill Clinton was a porn star and got elected into office. He then asked Hunter how she dealt with instances of unprofessionalism. Hunter said there was a porn company that she wouldn't work with any more. But she wouldn't lend a name. "They were making a joke about doing something- about putting cum on the American flag. I said I didn't want that to happen. That's not my view. That's not something I want to be portrayed as part of me. But they did it anyways. And so it's not worth it. That's unprofessionalism."
Hunter agreed that there are a lot porn performers- men and women- who flake. "They stay up and party the night before and then they sleep through their call time and have no idea what's going on. That happens."
Hunter attributes that to immaturity and not realizing it's a business. "People are making money off of this," she said. "We get to have fun- this is a job we can enjoy and feed our animal desires on- but it's also people are spending mega, mega bucks on this. We have to be considerate to that and act accordingly, just like any other career."
