NEW YORK -- The erotica business is enjoying more growth -- both in profit and popularity -- The New York Times reported.
The most recent example was the Exotic Erotic Ball and Exposition, which was held over the weekend on the West Side of Manhattan. The exposition and trade show, now in its 28th year, is the latest evidence that adult entertainment -- a $15 billion-a-year industry -- is larger and more corporate than ever before.
The convention featured new adult products for sale and display, as well as appearances by porn actors and exotic dancers. The convention was poorly attended, the Times said, possibly due to the increasing number of conventions each year.
The largest convention is held each year in Las Vegas.
Howard Mauskopf, the event's producer, told the Times the convention was the perfect way to explore "new forms of revenue."
