Porn Valley- During his KSEX show, www.ksexradio.com Tuesday night, director Guy Capo was discussing the acclaim which the documentary Inside Deep Throat, www.xxxdeepthroat.com has been receiving at The Sundance Film Festival. Capo said he was looking forward to seeing the documentary having only heard the buzz so far.
“What I like most about Deep Throat is it’s Blair Witch-y quality in the fact that they took such relatively small amount of money and over time parlayed that into $600 million,” Capo said. “That, baby, is why I got into the porn business. I would like to see Porn Valley and the adult industry become more of a bastion, if you will, for aspiring film makers and renegade artists. We need an injection of new Deep Throats.”
“Today, unfortunately, taking a risk in this business has been sadly equated with going more and more disgusting and extreme or degrading,” Capo went on to say. “I would like to see risk-assessment in this business be based on how much innovative merit and creativity can be delivered into a film rather than, like, how much of a baseball bat you can cram into a chick’s ass.
“That’s the new risk factor in porn is how misogynistic and disgusting can we get. What can we stuff into this girl’s throat to get her to almost puke on herself? That’s the level that we have stooped to. I’m hoping to see the porn industry become more of the final playing field, if you will. A guy I used to work with once called the porn industry a porn man’s film school. I like that. Because that’s really what it kind of was for me. Because I was not going to go the mainstream route. I wasn’t going to go to NYU and spend all this money on a fuckin’ film education to come around to my final project, my big student project, your graduation reel and have to compete with a bunch of rich, spoiled kids whose parents have a half a million dollars to drop on their fuckin’ student film.
“I was not going to play that game. I picked up a camera. I jumped into this bullshit industry, and I said I’m going to come out here and learn right on the set. You know what, and I’m going to see a little pussy while I’m doing it. And it’s worked out rather well for the first two years. Hope you’re happy with the Capo product as I’ve been involved in my learning curve. But this is poor man’s film school and I hope more people start to take advantage of it because we could use a whole lot more of you creative geniuses out there who are currently just roaming the landscape aimlessly wondering how you’re going to get there. Come join us, won’t you?”
