from www.blog.al.com – COLUMBUS, Georgia — A 15-year-old testified in a Columbus courtroom Tuesday of the sexual relationship he says he had with his special education teacher for several months beginning in late 2011.

The former Veterans Memorial Middle School teacher, Cristina Preston, is on trial on the charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation, having sex with a person in custody and statutory rape, according to a Ledger-Enquirer report.

The boy was 14 and in seventh grade at the time of the relationship, which he said began on Halloween 2011 when he helped Preston, then 44, hand out candy at her home. He claimed the former teacher touched him then, and kissed and fondled him in a conference room at his middle school.

The pair later went on to have a sexual relationship, having sex in Preston’s home, on the ground off Hancock Street after riding four-wheelers and on a deer stand on property owned by the family of Preston’s husband, the newspaper reported.

Muscogee County Sheriff’s deputies caught the pair together the evening of Jan. 29, 2012, which led the teenager to tell police about the relationship.

Preston resigned from her teaching position following her arrest. Her defense attorneys are claiming there are inconsistencies in the teenager’s story.
