METHUEN, MA - Agents from the Internal Revenue Service raided a home and strip club belonging to one of the top bosses in the city's Department of Public Works today.
Former City Councilor Kevin Moury and his wife Debra own Kittens strip club in Salisbury and a home at 46 Kimball St. Agents from the IRS criminal investigations descended upon both places today, but would not say why they were there.
"We're at the Methuen location and the Salisbury location in the course of our official duties," was all IRS special agent Jessica Crocker could say about the case this afternoon.
Moury refused to comment this afternoon and handed the phone to his attorney Arthur Broadhurst who also refused to comment.
Moury is the superintendent of environmental management for the city's Department of Public Works. He served as a city councilor in Methuen for two terms until 1992.
The Mourys bought the former Lion's Den strip club on Route 1 in Salisbury in 2003 for $1.3 million and renamed it kittens. The Mourys are also the former owners of the Sweetheart Inn in Methuen and Shannon's Place in Lawrence.
