LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski is quite possibly gyrating in a chair, but most likely it’s her own chair as her attempt to cease lap dances at LA strip clubs basically got squashed like a too touchy customer by a bouncer at Spearmint Rhino.
According to LA City Beat, “the ordinance passed in September backfired for Miscikowski when 106,000 city voters signed a petition to put the matter on the ballot instead of on the books, as the council intended. Backers had more than twice the number of signatures needed to put the law to the electorate and keep the council’s version on hold until voters had a say.”
According to a behind the scenes agreement expected to be voted on tomorrow, Miscikowski will still receive some terms and conditions she was pushing for including state-certified security guards, annual Police Commission permit reviews and stronger enforcement of under-age patrons and sexual touching during dances.
AdultFYI.com contacted a dancer who wanted to only be known as “Lacy” from Foreplay Gentlemen’s Club in West Los Angeles.
A-FYI: Are you and your fellow dancers breathing a sigh of relief?
Lacy: Absolutely. I have only one semester left in college, but dancing pays my tuition. When I get out of school, I hope to get directly involved in a new career but for a while there I was scared, worried that I wouldn’t be able to pay for my education.
A-FYI: Now that it seems you’ll be in the clear to continuing dancing as you always have, is the mood among your co-workers a positive one.
Lacy: Well I haven’t worked since this good news came but a few of my friends have called me and we’re very happy about it.
A-FYI: Cindy Miscikowski from the City Council claimed in the past that lap dancing strip clubs promote prostitution and drug use. What do you say to that?
Lacy: Perhaps Cindy should realize that every occupation is filled with their share of drug users. I know girls that dance and do coke, smoke weed, whatever. I also know a lot of lawyers, politicians and public servants who are dependant on drugs. I don’t use drugs. In fact, I never have. They’re mad at me because people will pay money to see me naked, an event they probably can’t fathom because no one expressed the same interest in their bodies. In High School, the fat girl was always jealous of the prom queen.
A-FYI: What about…[interrupted]
Lacy: Cindy and others tend to forget that years ago, here in Los Angeles, our public bus drivers had a major cocaine problem. I believe it happened in New York too, can’t be sure. Numerous drivers were found to be addicted to coke and driving around the public. In some cases, having major traffic accidents.
A-FYI: What’s the point?
Lacy: The point is, every career, every occupation deals with people’s addictions. Alcoholics, drug users and more. I dance in a club where drugs are not allowed, no booze is served and no touching is allowed. To say that promotes drug use is absurd.
A-FYI: What about the allegations that stripping encourages prostitution?
Lacy: That’s so stupid. If you put a lot of these girls out of work, some of them WILL turn to prostitution. I wouldn’t. I’d go on welfare before I ever did that. But the point is, we are doing a job like anyone else. We don’t give sexual favors to people, personally, I don’t date any clients. I’m just providing a form of entertainment. If people don’t agree with what I do, don’t come see me. You don’t see me sitting in on City Council meetings. I probably should care, but politics annoys me so I choose not to participate. I recommend the same for members of the community who don’t like dance clubs. Stay away!
