KENNEDALE, Tx — Real estate agent Bryan Lankhorst defeated the anti-porn Kennedale Mayor Jim Norwood www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=15501 in his re-election bid Saturday.
Norwood acknowledged weeks ago that he had failed to file or pay federal income taxes for five years.
With 100 percent of the votes counted, Lankhorst tallied 544 to Norwood’s 463.
Lankhorst, the Kennedale Planning & Zoning Commission chairman, outspent Norwood, a minister, $12,029 to $4,269 in the campaign.
Norwood was elected mayor in 2004.
Early voting was heavy in the hotly contested race, with 467 votes cast, compared with 117 last year.
“I think there were two main reasons,” Lankhorst said of his win.
“He made himself an issue in the campaign, and too, I think people were ready for a change, just something different.”
