Kuala Lumpur - from www.earthtimes.org- Malaysian police have detained the leader of a syndicate responsible for downloading pornographic movies and materials and then selling them, a news report said Wednesday. Police caught the 36-year-old suspect, who is known to his clients as "Mr Blue," as he was allegedly downloading a Thai sex show in his cybercafe in the north-eastern state of Terengganu.
Authorities also detained the suspect's 26-year-old assistant and seized seven pornographic CDs and two computers during the raid, which was conducted this month after weeks of surveillance, state commercial crime chief Azmi Adam was quoted as saying by the Star daily.
"All this while we wanted hard evidence although we knew of his activities for a while," Azmi said. "This time, he was caught downloading the porn."
Police said the pornographic CDs were sold at 8 ringgit (2.20 dollars) each, adding that they were mostly bought by teenagers.
