LOS ANGELES - So what's up with Pamela Anderson and her Golden Globes?
"They've been big, they've been small, and now they're big again," Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Anthony Griffin confided yesterday, the morning after the awards show. "They just looked weird."
Griffin, whose handiwork has been featured on ABC's "Extreme Makeover," gave Lowdown a blunt review of the celebrity scalpel and needle work on display on the red carpet.
* Charlie's Angel Drew Barrymore: "What the hell was she thinking, going braless? When she came out, my wife said, 'She really needs a lift. I can't believe a stylist let her go out like that.' We look for them to be mid-arm level. Hers were down to her elbows."
* "Melrose Place" hottie-turned-"Dancing With the Stars"-contestant Lisa Rinna: "My God, that was like the worst lip job I've ever seen! The problem is, that gives plastic surgery a bad name."
* Queen Latifah: "She had good work - both her breast reduction and her lift."
* The Desperate Housewives: "They all look good, and I know they haven't had anything done."
The awards show season is a busy time. "Before the Golden Globes, I had people come in for Botox and collagen and Restylane injections to get tuned up," the good doctor revealed. "That includes the reporters."
Without naming names, he added: "I get a fair amount of celebrities that come in to use the gift certificates my office hands out in gift bags."
Meanwhile, Griffin argued that nothing says love on Valentine's Day like the gift of a Brazilian butt lift.
"One guy bought this procedure for his girlfriend, who was in her 60s," he said. "The injections go deep into fat layers, sort of like Swiss cheese. We know from experience it lasts at least 20 years. There are some A-list entertainers who've had this done. It's nice because people can't really tell. You can say you just really hit the Stairmaster."
Griffin added: "Patients bring in photographs of celebrities. I get a lot of J.Lo, Beyoncé, Tyra Banks and Angelina Jolie. One patient brought in Britney Spears. I didn't think she had such a great butt, but that's what she wanted."
