WASHINGTON, D.C.- The trial of a Phoenix man charged with setting fire to a strip club in Washington has begun.

Thirty-eight-year-old Vasile Graure is charged with assault with intent to kill with gasoline and a lighter in connection with the November 2007 fire at Good Guys bar in northwest Washington.

Prosecutors say Graure became angry after he was kicked out of the club for photographing a dancer.

He allegedly returned to the club and started the fire. Prosecutors say a man who attempted to extinguish the fire suffered second- and third-degree burns over most of his body.

Defense lawyers told a District of Columbia Superior Court jury that there was no physical evidence linking Graure to the fire.
