Pineapple Support, an adult industry mental health nonprofit, is launching a free, online support group for performers navigating suicidal thoughts and previously hosted a webinar for survivors of suicide.
New Support Group Addresses Suicidal Ideation
Pineapple Support, described as the adult industry’s leading mental health nonprofit, is launching a free, online support group. This initiative aims to help performers navigate thoughts of suicide. The six-week support group, titled "Navigating Thoughts of Suicide," is sponsored by Stripchat.
The group will be led by Pineapple Support therapist Rachael Farina. It is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 4th, at 10 a.m. EST. Each session is expected to last approximately one hour. Farina stated that the group will offer a safe, compassionate space for individuals who have experienced suicidal ideation or struggle with ongoing thoughts of suicide. The sessions will explore contributing factors to these feelings, methods for seeking support, and the journey toward developing lasting hope.
Leya Tanit, founder of Pineapple Support, expressed gratitude to Stripchat for sponsoring the group and to Rachael Farina for guiding participants. Tanit noted that support groups like this one highlight that connection and healing are accessible, even when suicidal thoughts feel isolating and frightening.
The "Navigating Thoughts of Suicide" support group will run for six weeks. The start time of 10 a.m. EST corresponds to 7 a.m. PST and 4 p.m. CET. Further information and registration are available on the Pineapple Support website.
Pineapple Support's Mission and History
Pineapple Support was founded in 2018 by British performer Leya Tanit. The organization's establishment followed a series of losses within the adult industry attributed to depression and other mental illnesses. Pineapple Support is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States.
Since its inception, the organization has connected over 16,000 adult performers to mental health services. These services include free and low-cost therapy, counseling, and emotional support. Pineapple Support is recognized as the adult industry’s leading mental health resource.
Previous Initiative for Survivors of Suicide
In a related effort, Pineapple Support previously partnered with Cam4 to host a webinar titled "Survivors of Suicide: Acceptance and Healing." This webinar, sponsored by Cam4, focused on the experiences and needs of those who have lost someone to suicide. It was hosted by licensed mental health counselor Rachael Wells.
The "Survivors of Suicide: Acceptance and Healing" webinar took place via Zoom on Tuesday, September 28th, at 1 p.m. EST. It was scheduled to last one hour, with a note that it might extend. Wells indicated that the presentation would cover the experience, needs, and questions associated with being a survivor of suicide. Topics included the grieving and healing journey, dispelling myths about suicide and grief, and exploring ways to support survivors and understand the path to recovery. Wells also noted that the webinar would cover themes that some listeners might find upsetting.
Leya Tanit described Rachael Wells as a talented, sex-positive mental health counselor with extensive experience treating trauma in marginalized communities. Tanit stated that attendees could draw upon Wells’s experience to explore acceptance and healing for those who have lost someone to suicide, aiming to prevent future losses in the industry through better understanding and knowledge.
