Houston [Houstonist.com] – OK, guys – we’re sure this won’t interest you one bit, but there’s a porn convention in Houston this weekend. What? All right, all right, we’ll go ahead and tell you about it because we know you’re dedicated to keeping up with local events.

The convention is Lone Star Pornutopia, which began Wednesday and runs through Saturday. It’s a scaled-down version of an event held every January in Las Vegas (which includes the AVN Awards), and it’s the first such convention ever to be held in our fair city. “We figured this would be a great way to give a present back to the city, by bringing in 30 adult stars to entertain them and meet and greet the people,” Steve Seidman, Pornutopia’s organizer, told KTRK. Give a present back to the city? Houston must have been pretty good to the naughty picture business.

Organizers and participants said they weren’t sure how Houstonians would react to the event: They expect protests, which so far haven’t materialized (but might now that it’s been on TV), but they’re also looking for support. “Some people are a little scared, and some people are going to be curious,” porn star Summer Haze told Channel 13. “So I think we’ll have a lot of curious people that are going to come down and see what’s going on.”
